Ladakh Bikers Dream

The great Himalayan ride begins! Ride through the engineering marvel, Atal Tunnel, entering the starkly different Lahaul Valley. Pass by Keylong and Jispa. The roads begin to test your skills as you cross Deepak Tal and the mighty Baralacha La Pass (16,040 ft). Arrive at the high-altitude plains of Sarchu for an overnight camp stay. It gets very cold here!

Today is a long and challenging ride. Cross the 21 hairpin bends of Gata Loops, Nakee La, and Lachulung La. Ride across the vast Moore Plains (a 40km straight stretch at 15,000 ft). Finally, conquer Tanglang La, the second highest motorable pass in the world, before descending into the Indus Valley and reaching the city of Leh. Check into the hotel and rest.

After 3 days of rigorous riding, today is a rest day. Your body needs to acclimatize to the 11,500 ft altitude of Leh. Late afternoon, take a short ride to visit the Shanti Stupa for a panoramic view of the city, and explore the historic Leh Palace. Spend the evening walking through the Leh Mall Road and enjoy local Tibetan cuisine.

Gear up for a proud moment! Today you ride up to Khardung La (18,380 ft), historically known as the highest motorable road in the world. Click photos at the top and descend into the beautiful Nubra Valley. Ride alongside the Shyok river to reach Hunder. Enjoy a ride on the double-humped Bactrian camels in the high-altitude cold desert. Overnight stay in Nubra.

Leave Nubra Valley and take the thrilling off-road route alongside the Shyok River to reach Pangong Tso. This route features water crossings and rocky paths, testing your adventure riding skills. Suddenly, the landscape opens up to reveal the stunning, 134-km long, blue Pangong Lake extending into Tibet. Overnight stay in camps near the lake.

Wake up to a mesmerizing sunrise over Pangong Lake. After breakfast, start your ride back to Leh. You will cross another formidable high-altitude pass, Chang La (17,586 ft). Stop for a tea break at the army canteen at the top. Visit the famous Thiksey Monastery on the way down. Arrive in Leh, return your bikes, and celebrate the successful completion of the circuit!

For those riding back via Srinagar, today you head to Kargil crossing Magnetic Hill and Lamayuru. For those returning via Manali, you head back to Sarchu. Enjoy the changed perspectives of the mountains on your return journey. (Note: For flight departures, this day acts as a buffer).

Spend the day enjoying local sightseeing, market shopping, and authentic culinary experiences. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
